A unique massage combining acupressure, stretching and applied yoga

Traditional Thai Massage - is an ancient healing art based on the concept of invisible energy lines that run throughout the body. It is thought to have travelled from India to Thailand some 2500 years ago, developing into a system common in Thailand today. Until fairly recently it was a restricted art, only practiced in a temple where massage was practiced as a spiritual discipline. The giving of the massage was understood to be the application of metta or loving kindness.
Thai Massage is a unique and powerful massage therapy which combines acupressure, gentle stretching and applied yoga. Applied through clothes on a futon mat, the therapist uses thumbs, hands, feet and elbows along important energy lines, whilst moving the body through sequences of gentle yoga based stretches. It is a meditative experience, extremely effective in relaxing stiff joints, releasing muscular tension and congested toxins. Thai massage helps the body maintain a free flow of energy by working to release blockages within the energy system. It aids breathing and circulation and helps to improve flexibility and alignment, reduces stress, and improves posture. It is also an effective form of self development, enhancing vitality, body awareness and sense of well-being.
